Swans Beach Rugby Festival 2025: A Community Rally Against Cancer. Entebbe, 4th October 2025 – The annual Swans Beach Rugby Festival, held that Saturday at Aero Beach, went beyond thrilling matches and festive fun—it became a platform to educate the community about cancer and promote early detection.

Health professionals from the Uganda Cancer Institute and volunteer medical teams offered free screenings for various cancers, blood pressure, and diabetes. Many attendees took the opportunity to learn about early warning signs, preventive measures, and the importance of regular health checks. “This festival is not just about sport,” said Martin Mangusho, Vice President of Swans Sports Club. “It’s about giving people the knowledge and tools to act early, which can literally save lives.”

The event combined action-packed rugby matches with community-focused initiatives. Twelve teams competed for the championship, but the real victory was raising awareness about cancer and empowering families to take charge of their health. Children and adults also engaged in educational games organized by PlayHouse256, reinforcing healthy habits in a fun way.

Guest of honor Sir Ian Walker, Managing Director of Engineering Solutions Ltd, paid tribute to the late Frank Muthusi and Balaam Daniel Lubangakene, whose legacy inspires community health advocacy and the fight against cancer.
